Frederick Douglass Ensembles Achievements

Music in the Park

Music in the Park

Music in the Parks is a one to two day festival involving students in the choral, orchestral and band ensembles across the United States. Each ensemble performs at in an allotted time slot on specific days before adjudicators who rate their performance techniques and efficiency in music presentation as is done in our local festival. The students from each group are then allowed to enjoy the rest of the day in the amusement park within that region. All ensembles then reconvene at the end of the day for an awards ceremony. This year, the Frederick Douglass Marching Eagles, comprised of students from Beginning & Advanced Band, had the privilege of competing at Music in the Parks, Carowinds where they earned first place in the category of marching bands. En Route, they visited Livingstone College, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina A&T & Johnson C. Smith University. While at each institution, Juniors & Seniors completed admissions applications and were provided with audition opportunities where applicable. We are truly grateful for everyone who contributed in cash or kind. Without you, this opportunity would not have been possible. We look forward to new adventures in the coming year.
